Try styrofoam or cardboard after plucking out by hand.. aim for the centre where there are generally no thorns, grab securely and pull upwards with the roots, then bin immediately -- do not gather on ground. Have a lot of it myself. Filled up a whole green bin and there's still more. Use high duty gloves and always check the bottom of your shoes when leaving that area.
