Q: Should I date a Catholic that says he is religious? Aren't we meant to preach the Gospel to them or is this the wrong scenario?
Answer:
Wrong scenario, unfortunately.
He's not just Catholic. He is religiously catholic. Sorry, but plenty of other fishes in the sea. Ask God to give you someone He wants you to be with instead. You can only marry one guy -- so don't screw this up. You can have plenty of catholic friends -- even a catholic best friend, but not a catholic husband.
Being unequally yoked literally means being imbalanced -- it is more than just not marrying a non-Christian, but not being balanced in Christ. The yoke originally refers to two oxen carrying a load balanced on a pole. So it is more than just about not marrying non-Christians. We need someone who is spiritually our level.
