The awkward part was - he was right.

What's the use of knowledge without understanding, experience without maturity, words of wisdom without the substance of integrity, strong will without depth in character, godly values without godly fear, practicality without faith, and love that is conditional? You may receive honor for being older, but respect has to be earned.

I don't want to just survive - I want to achieve something with my life.

I think God is really with me.

Learning to respect people for who they are and not for what they have done.

My life is filled with pictures and dreams.

Language should be a facilitator, not a hindrance to the learning process.

Learning starts from the heart.

I don't have time to give and I don't have money to invest, but I have something that's more valuable than money and time put together - I have a vision.

When I dance, time flies.

We are all like doors. Of course. They think it is impossible.

The future has arrived. Live in the now.

Luxury is necessity.

Doing whatever I want doesn't mean that I will be rewarded with whatever I wish. In fact, doing whatever I want only results in what I don't wish.

Sometimes, I think.. Am I that hard to love? Then again, when I think about the way He died on the cross for me, how could I say that nobody ever loved me?

I'm sorry, dear.. And you feel like there is nothing to back you. That feeling of helplessness weighs you down. And sorrow, like termites eat you up from the inside. No one hears the silent cries that echo through your sanity. Bitter loving memories collapse around you - blasting off your very essence. Fiery tears fuming with passion burn your expressionless face. When you look around, all you see are invisible doors slamming into your face continuously. Friends, are now turned enemies overnight. And then - you will remember God.

Wishes she could grasp the full understanding of Your love

LRC, if it was not for the Tuesday Night group, you would have lost your cutting edge. When I confess, then You will send You Spirit and help me to get over it. Confessing is like a first step in getting over it - asking for help.

he would isolate himself

If I have sins, I will tend to isolate myself because I am afraid that people will find out about it. But if I confess already, then there is nothing to be afraid about because I will have nothing to hide.

he would just be hurting himself

Sin hurts because guilt hurts. When I have guilt then I am living in regret. And it will make me condemn myself. And if I condemn myself, then I am only hurting myself.

he would look terrible

When I have sin and I try to hide it, people can see. It comes up into the outer appearance - I will look tired, sad, anxious.. You name it.

when he saw himself as something better

If I keep seeing myself as this then I will always be like that. I need to see myself as something better - a good girl. When I have that mindset, then it will be easier for me to change.

personally

You are a very personal God. When You speak to me, You speak to me face to face. And when You speak to me, You speak to my heart. You are very direct, personal and intimate. Everything that I share to You, doesn't go out - it is just between me and You and it doesn't even reach the four walls. I can share to You my deepest secrets and thoughts and You can hear me and understand me and You can help me to go through all of it. You can accept what I tell You. There is no sin that is too big that You will not accept from me. You will forgive me of ALL my sins.

in a nice, quiet place

Sometimes, You will take me to a nice place - where it is just me and You and the air is so sweet and refreshing. And here, it is like the whole world is just me and You; and You and me; and I can speak with You anything. It's like a holiday.

a place that changed his life

You bring me to places that change my life. Sometimes, I will find myself in a new place where You really deal with me, and it is what goes on there, and not really about the place that changes my life.

Someone who forgives

You are a person who is forgiving. Forgiveness is Your nature and if I want to be like You then I must learn to forgive. If I am really Your child and am a part of You and if You are a part of me, then forgiveness has to be my nature as well. Right now, my greatest sin is unforgiveness. It is not easy to forgive a person who doesn't admit that she is wrong. And in life, I will find many more people like this but it is the people that are closest to me that will hurt me the most and the people that mean the most to be that will hurt me the most. If I cannot forgive that person, it only proves how much that person really means to me.

Someone who is very understanding

You are a very understanding God. Even sometimes, when I don't understand myself but You will understand me. You know what I am going through more than I know. You know everything.

the main person in him

If I think that I cannot do it because I am not strong enough, then I have to remember that who is the one really living my life right now - is it me or is it You? If it is really You, and forgiveness is Your nature, then there really should be no problem with forgiveness.

someone who wouldn't want to do it again

I don't want to do it again. I don't want to go through all of this again. Sin is like a nightmare to me.

someone who was really blessed and really benefited a lot

David is right. A person who has come clean has really so much to benefit from. It is such a blessing just to know that I have been forgiven.

something that really wasn't such a big issue but it really meant a lot to him because he was a person that doesn't like sin

If it matters to You, it matters to me. People may think, "Oh.. it's just a small sin" but there is no big sin small sin issue here. It is relative to the person. It is a big issue to me. Huge.

Volunteering?

ea

Nehemiah 11:2
2 And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

Psalms 110:3

3 Your people shall be volunteers

     In the day of Your power;

In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning,

You have the dew of Your youth.

Dictionary Meaning:
to offer oneself as a volunteer

because they had the big picture

I guess it can only happen when I see the big picture, not through my own eyes - the eyes of a mere person, but Your eyes. You are not bias, not one-sided. You see the benefit of everyone and You make sure that the best decision is made, with the least risk and the most returns. And only when I see from Your eyes, and not from a selfish point of view, can I liberally give my life up 100% to do Your will.

because they wanted to do their part

Sometimes, I feel like I have a part to play - just because I am part of this family, and being part of this family, everyone has to do their part - including me. And I feel like everyone has done so much for me already, and I just want to contribute something. Also, my family needs me more if I volunteer to go than if I stay. By going, I am fulfilling my obligation to my family because they need someone out there, not here. When I know that the power is in my hands to make a difference, I will automatically feel obligated to do it. Simply because I can.

because they were noble at heart

I never knew what noble was until now. To sacrifice something for others, even when I don't have to, is a noble thing. If I had the chance to be selfish, but I didn't choose to be. And if I put the needs of others ahead of myself - that is nobility.

because they wanted to do their part

Everyone has a part to play, and You have already pre-arranged my destiny. If this is what You have planned for my life - my responsibility, my purpose, my destiny, then this is what I will do, and if I don't do it, I am missing out from my perfect destiny.

there was enough people to cause a turnaround of events

You are looking for a critical mass. You are asking me to be added to that number so that that critical mass can be reached. I must be honored to be called in to join with that number. And once I join, I will see a turnaround of events immediately. Immediately.

        the nation was spared

You have a heart for the nations. They have always been in Your heart and now they are in mine as well. You want to save the nations. You want to gather them up in Your hand. You want to save them, and You are looking for people who are willing to give up their lives into doing so, and this is why You have called me to join that critical mass. Whatever it is, if this is Your will for my life, I am in.

their sacrifice was not in vain

If I do anything for You, it will never be in vain. You will never let any sacrifice of mine to You go to waste. You will always make the most out of it.

        people were touched

When people see me give my whole life to serve You, they will be touched that they may also give up their lives to serve You. I want to be a role model so that people will see that they also have a part to play, not just to watch, but to participate into giving up their lives to serve You just as I have done and in other ways.

people they loved benefited from it

The things I do are not only for strangers and other people, but they are even for those whom I really care about - those under me and those closest to me - those that need me and those that I hold very dear to me. These are the people I am willing to give my life for. Willingly.

        the whole country will perish

Sometimes, I think about myself so much that I am totally blind to the "What if I don't do it?" sector. The consequences are unbearable. If I don't go up and do it, and if we don't hit that critical mass, then... there goes.

they won't do anything so profitable with their lives anymore than this

If I think that I will be saving my life by not volunteering, I am only loosing it. This is it. If I don't go up now, I will never be able to do anything close to this ever again with my life. This is it. This is what I live for. This is my life. This is my destiny.

people who knew that their lives will only be worth more if they sacrificed it

What is my life worth? It is only worth as much as I use it for. And if I don't use my life, then it is worth nothing. And if I sacrifice my life for the sake of the whole country, then this is how much my life is worth - a whole country. A penny can only be worth as much as I can buy. If inflation goes up, I can't buy much, and therefore, it is not worth much. But if someone is offering me a house for a penny, that is how much a penny is worth. It is worth only as much as it can be exchanged for. My life is only worth as much as I can exchange it for. My time is only worth as much as I can exchange it for. My finances can only be worth as much as I exchange it for. My family can only be worth as much as I can exchange it for. And if I were to sacrifice my family for nothing, then it can only be worth nothing. If I sacrifice my life for nothing, it is only worth nothing. If I were to sacrifice my finances for nothing, it is worth nothing. So how much I am worth is really up to me. And to me, it is worth a lot. And this is because I am willing to sacrifice everything for You.

        people with a good heart

Those with a good heart are the best men of the land. I always look up to them and all, but when I saw the mental picture of all the noble men sacrificing themselves up, I got really heart-broken. I thought like - Why them? But this is the sacrifice that You are asking for - a noble sacrifice - the best of my produce. The best I can come up with, and nothing short of that. This is the attitude I need to carry when I volunteer for You.

        others

Others. It is not easy to give up everything for the sake of others. Who are others anyway? They are not me. Do I even love others more than I love me? Why should I die for others? They have nothing to do with me. Why don't they just mind their own business and care about themselves? Why need me to intervene? I have my own life to live- my own problems to settle, myself to account for. Why others? But this is the Christian life. This is what Christianity is about - Jesus, Others and then myself. You gave it all for me. You could have stranded me to account for myself, but You saved me anyway. Do I really thing that the life that I now live belongs to me and that is all I need to account for? Like it or not, I am my brother's keeper, and if this is something You would do with Your life, and if my life is Yours, then this is something I should do with mine. Because the life that I now live, is not I that live, but You that lives inside of me. Others. Painful as it is. Selfless as it is. Hard as it is. This is the perfect definition of sacrifice. Nothing to do with 'me'.

those who needed them as well

Sometimes, I have a great excuse - but my so and so needs me. Sounds equally noble, no? No. They need me more out there than here.

        without murmuring

More often than not, my volunteering is spiced up with lots of complaining. Yes, I murmur, grumble and complain a lot. Then why volunteer? Sounds more like an obligation to me. True volunteering is done from the heart. It includes my attitude, my perception of what I am doing. In my mind, I think of my reason for volunteering. With the purpose for my volunteering in mind, there is absolutely nothing to murmur and grumble about at all. That is what I call, 'willingness'.

        at the mercy of others

Volunteering doesn't mean that I have a say on how about I am going to be used. Once I volunteer, I volunteer for good, and whatever You do to me, is Your wish. If I am going to hold back here and there, then that's not full volunteering. That is partial. So did I give my life wholly to You? Or only 10% of it? What is the true meaning of 'give my whole life to You'? Whole life means I hold nothing back and everything You want to do, just go ahead, no need to ask me. Just do Your will.

when they thought about the cause

Sometimes, it is hard to do what I am doing. And I really feel like giving up. For example, I feeling like dropping my third subject. But when I think about the cause, I have to keep on going. I have to think about the cause I am fighting for. I am doing this for You, I am doing this for my country. I am doing this for my family. I am doing this for the next generation. I am doing this for Your people. I am doing this for all those You care about. And I am doing this for all those I care about. I am doing this for others.

when they left it to their hearts to do the talking

Then sometimes, I think too much. I think and think until I just have to leave it to my heart to decide because I don't know what to do anymore. I don't know if I can go on. Seriously.

even when they saw the need to stay

Sometimes, present needs will dominate my mind instead of future needs. It is so easy because in the present is what I can hear, taste and see. But the future is something to vague, so undetermined and so unpredictable. It is hard to live for the future when the present has so many things to live for. But I have to keep my mind locked onto the future because I know my future. It is not unpredictable, and undetermined, unclear or vague. My future is all set out. And I have stuff to do.

        where the decision is final

Sometimes, You will ask me to make decisions that I cannot change. The decision is final and will change my life forever. But I have to make these major decisions in order for You to use me. I just pray that You help me make those decisions, and when I have made them, to help me keep them.

Random from devotion 12 Aug 09

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml>

Sometimes, I don’t receive it yet because the time is not yet. Timing is something that You stick to, and sometimes, You have already sent the letter but it takes time to arrive. I just have to wait around for it, look out for it. That’s all! It is already on the way =)

When they are God-given expectations, they will come to pass.

Others should not be my benchmark for me to believe that You can do something. Because You are full of surprises. Others are a poor benchmark because people in general have no or little faith to believe in the impossible. But if I want to see impossible things, that is the usual response I will get from normal people. Because if that is not the response I get, then I will know that it is a common thing which is highly possible – nothing extraordinary about that.

I am a very fortunate and a blessed person because I get to meet with You face to face. I get to meet up with You intimately, and not everyone has a chance to do that. And when I have met with You and I know clearly that I have met with You, then whatever You tell me in that meeting, I have no right to doubt anything because You have told it into my face. I don’t need any more confirmations. That is as clear as it gets.

Sometimes, when You speak to me, You speak to me in such a humble place that even I start to question if it is possible for something so true to come out of a dream. It’s the usual excuse people come up with when they talk about these things – it is so common until nobody seems to believe in it anymore – it is like the ultimate “no way”, out-of-the-world-nonsense known in Christianity and Church life. But if this is how You choose to speak to me, so be it.

I am like a little girl, sometimes. I feel almost insignificant, yet so important to You. I feel helpless, dependent, almost a liability. And yet, I feel so loved, so valued and so appreciated by You. It is so opposite. But this is how I feel. Dependent, fully on Your love.

Most of the time, when I pray, I am afraid that I may ask for the wrong thing. And much so if I don’t get it. It’s as if it is a confirmation that it is not Your will for me to have it. But there are some things that I ask for that IS Your will for me and yet I don’t get it because I do not ask in faith. When I ask and do not believe, it is equivalent to not asking.

Sometimes, You like to say, “test Me” or “Ask from me a sign”. But then I ask for something so possible, so usual. The question is, what is common? Or what is usual, and why should I select from one of those? If impossible things happen everyday and miracles are common, then what does it mean to be 'uncommon' and ‘beyond boundaries’? You are the God of everyday miracles. Because nothing is common and nothing is limited. And if You are a God of miracles, working in my life everyday, then there is no limit or ceiling to separate what is common from uncommon or a wall to distinguish between the two.

I know You always say, love You with all my heart. This includes believing in You with all my heart. With all my heart means that with all I am, I will believe in every word that You say to me. I'm so glad I bumped into it! It is really so helpful...

Here it is..

and here is a short clip from it:

Helping children cope with nighttime fears: A checklist
• Always question parenting advice that encourages parents to leave distressed children alone at night. As noted above, kids lack the coping tools to work things out by themselves. And even advocates of “cry-it-out” strategies of sleep training warn that such approaches are inappropriate for young babies and children who are especially fearful or anxious (France and Blampied 1999; Owens et al 1999).
• Consider sources of daily stress. Kids who suffer from daytime anxieties—about school, separation from parents, or other concerns—are more likely to fear the dark and fear sleeping alone (Gregory and Eley 2005). You may be able to reduce your child’s nighttime fears by helping him cope with daytime stress.

• Review your child’s sleep requirements and sleep schedule. Sometimes parents overestimate how much sleep their children need. As a result, they send their kids to bed long before kids can fall asleep. Kids left to stew in the dark have more time to dwell on nighttime fears (Ferber 1995).

• Avoid frightening television, stories, and imagery—especially before bedtime. This includes passive exposure, which occurs when your child is present while you watch potentially disturbing material on TV. A recent study reported that 5-6 year olds exposed to adult TV programs—including the evening news—slept less overall and experienced more sleep disturbances (Paavonen et al 2006).

• Fight fear with the power of touch. Physical affection switches off separation anxiety (Panskepp 2006).

• Try to be patient. If your child’s nighttime fears are depriving you of sleep, it’s natural to feel resentment. But it’s important not to direct anger or irritation at your child. If your child feels rejected, this will only intensify his separation anxiety and make things worse.

• Respond promptly to nightmares. Assure your child that the nightmare wasn’t real, and explain that everybody has nightmares sometimes. The more quickly you break the spell of a frightening dream, the more quickly your child can get back to sleep.

• Provide your child with a night light. As you and your child works through her nighttime fears, you can switch to progressively dimmer lights (Glaze 2004).

• Be a model of calm, confident behavior. When your child comes to you in a fearful state, be warm, sensitive and responsive. Tell him you understand that he is scared, and that everybody gets scared sometimes. But don’t let sympathy turn into overprotectiveness. Many animals—ranging from birds to monkeys—are sensitive to social cues about fear (Zentall and Galef 1988). They pick up fears by watching others model them. Kids are no exception. If your child believes you are worried or anxious, he may become more fearful.

• When possible, show your child proof that his fears are unfounded. As noted above, young children lack the developmental skills to distinguish appearances from reality. For these kids, telling them that there is no monster is in the closet is not enough. They need you to actually look and confirm that all is well.

• Show your child how to relax. For instance, as you soothe a crying child, you can show her breathing exercises. In a study aimed at reducing anxiety in young children scheduled for a medical procedure, researchers taught kids how to take slow, deep breaths by having them exhale into party blowers (Jay et al 1987). These breathing exercises appeared to reduce distress in 40% of the kids.

• Counteract frightening thoughts with images of happiness, safety, and bravery. When he is fearful, help your child think of situations that make him feel happy and in control. For instance, you might encourage him to imagine he is playing with his favorite pet. You might also have your child practice telling himself that he is brave. This technique was used in the study mentioned above (Jay et al 1987).

• Teach coping skills through role playing. Many kids overcome their fear of medical check-ups by playing doctor. You can apply this approach to nighttime fears as well. During the daytime, talk about your child’s fears and discuss how she can counteract them. Help your child practice the tactics mentioned above—thinking happy thoughts, telling oneself that one is brave, rehearsing relaxing techniques, and transforming frightening imaginary creatures into something silly and non-threatening. Then try a little role playing (Jay et al 1987). If you have another adult or older child to help, the two of you can act out the parts of frightened child and helpful parent. The parent shows the child how to counter her nighttime fears, and the child tries each technique out. After this demonstration, have the child play the part of the comforting adult. You—or a favorite toy—can take the part of the fearful child.

• During the daytime, create stories with your child in which the protagonist (your child’s favorite fictional character or hero) learns to overcome his nighttime fears. This technique—called story desensitization—is designed to make children less fearful by having them confront their fears in small steps (King et al 2001). Start by telling a story that lacks any frightening elements. Then introduce something that is just a little bit scary. For instance, if your child is afraid of spiders, you might add a very small, non-threatening spider to the story (one that keeps its distance from the hero). The hero responds by successfully practicing the fear management techniques mentioned above. If this story doesn’t distress your child, you can intensify the frightening element in the next story—perhaps by making the spider come closer. In this way, you may gradually desensitize your child’s fears.

Plastic Children

I stumbled upon a wonderful journal about .. oh well.. just read it.

Here's a little chip of it:

Luther Burbank says: "Pick out any trait you want in your child, granted that he is a normal child, be it honesty, fairness, purity, lovableness, industry, thrift, what not. By surrounding this child with sunshine from the sky and your own heart, by giving the closest communion with nature, by feeding this child well-balanced, nutritious food, by giving it all that is implied in healthful environmental influences, and by doing all in love, you can thus cultivate in the child and fix there for all its life all of these traits, and on the other side, give him foul air to breathe, keep him in a dusty factory or an unwholesome school-room or a crowded tenement up under the hot roof; keep him away from the sunshine, take away from him music and laughter and happy faces; cram his little brains with so-called knowledge; let him have vicious associates in his hours out of school, and at the age of ten you have fixed in him the opposite traits. You have, perhaps, seen a prairie fire sweep through the tall grass across a plain. Nothing can stand before it, it must burn itself out. That is what happens when you let weeds grow up in your child's life, and then set fire to them by wrong environment."

I will never know the love of God until you show it

Remember, I used to say that "I will never know the love of God until you show it."

I guess the only way for others to know God and God's love is through us. I know it sounds common, but it is really really deep. Think about the opposite- if we don't show that we love others, they will never ever know what God is like or His love. You never know what ice cream taste like until you actually eat it. There is no way to describe the taste to an extend where it is able to replace the taste itself- no way. Similarly, a kid who has never tasted love before, will never know God- it is humanly impossible.

You know, all this while , I always wished that people will come to know God and the love of God, and I tried to many times to describe it to my friends. I tried all kinds of ways- through the way I lived my life and all. I thought that if they saw how much I loved God, or if they saw how much God loves me and blessed me, that they will be able to understand the love of God- no. No matter how much I describe to them the feeling of eating ice cream of chocolate, they will never be able to grasp the idea until they try it for themselves. No matter how much I try to show them that I love ice cream and how many miles I walk to get it, it will only develop curiosity but it can never give them the taste. How then will they ever experience the taste? There is only one way- through me. Why is that so?

John 14:7-11

7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

Okay, I know you might say- oh, that's because Jesus is God, and the only way to know God is through Jesus. True, but remember Jesus said in Verse 10 - "Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me?" This is what makes Jesus able to extend the love of God and the person of God to them- because God is in Jesus and Jesus in God. Now let's go to Verse 20:

20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

Therefore, I understand that God is in us too. And therefore, Verse 7 applies to us too:

7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

If they had known us, they would have known God also, and from now on they know Him and have seen Him - paraphrased by Anna

Sunday School Lesson 4

The F Language
10-12 yrs old
6 weeks long

Method : Basic interaction- group discussion; Q&A session; problem solving.

Relationship building : Teacher-to-students; Students-to-students

Purpose : To prepare them for the journey through life with the Lord.

Emphasis :

Group discussion : Critical analysis and response filled arguments

support the least supported one - if they are wrong, try not to hurt his/her feelings. Instead, compliment his/her courage to speak up in front of the whole class and show your admiration towards his/her critical thinking skills.

look out for the quiet ones by asking them for their opinion- bear in mind that everyone has an opinion, whether or not they are on the fence.

discourage discouragement from other students, especially those that hurt, e.g 'stupid', 'lousy', 'bad', etc. by regulations.

By regulations, disallow students to get personal in the arguments, e.g 'that's why your parents don't love you' or 'that's because you stink'.

Q&A : Answers to unanswered questions

if you don't know the answer, just say, "I don't know, but we can find out together." Do not assume you know an answer. And if you don't, assure yourself that it is not due to your incompetence that you don't have an answer to all of life's questions. Neither is it your responsibility to answer them all. And most of the time, the simplest questions are the hardest to answer.

it will help if you prepare students beforehand that you may not know all the answers to the questions they throw at you, but you will try your best to guide them.

keep to your words; if you say that you will find out together with them, do it. If necessary, ask someone spiritually senior.

if in any way you get shaken up by their questions and the fact that you can't answer them, always pray. The devil may be using this to test you. Thus the reason why many teachers avoid Q&A sessions. God honors you for choosing to take up such an important challenge for the sake of the young ones. If they can think it, God can answer it. If God can answer it, the devil can't. But if you don't answer it, answers will come to them from somewhere else.

Problem solving : Practical Solutions to real life problems

one of the most important sessions during their childhood life. This is where true relationship building takes place between teachers and students and sometimes, students among themselves. The most important thing is to Love them. And if you love them, encourage them. Respect them. Go through it with them, pray with them. And follow up the matter.

if necessary, have private counseling sessions for those who are going through extremely personal problems. Discernment is important. Ask God to show you who are the ones that need personal time with you. Sometimes the happiest ones have the biggest issues. And sometimes the ones with the best behavior are going through the most. It's hard to tell.

Follow up is very important. Most of this takes place during the week. Make sure you chat with them, e-mail them or pray with them during the week.

Remember : Even if you fail in every other aspect of being a teacher, but is close to them, you have succeeded beautifully. It is through your relationship with them, not your lessons, that they are shaped.

Topics:

Family

Friends

Future

Focus

Fortune

Fame

Failure

Feelings

Fun

Freedom

Fear

Faith

Week 1 : Family and Friends

Week 2 : Future and Focus

Week 3 : Fortune and Fame

Week 4 : Failure and Feelings

Week 5 : Fun and Freedom

Week 6 : Fear and Faith

Who is the Holy Spirit?

Who is the Holy Spirit?
Gen 1:2
Matt 3:16
John 4:24
Psalms 143:10
1 Cor 2:4,9-13
1 Cor 3:16-17
1 Cor 6:11
1 Cor 7:40
1 Cor 12:3-13
2 Cor 3:3, 6, 7-8 16-18
2 Cor 5:1-8
2 Cor 6:6-8
2 Cor 13:14
Eph 1:13
John 14:15-18, 25-27
John 15:26
John 16:7-15

Let me ask you a question- In the beginning, before God created the earth, God was there, right? Right.
Then, He created men. He created men, in His own image, right? Right.
But then, God realized that it was not good for man to be alone. May I ask,- why? Why wasn't it good for men to be alone? Because man was created in His image, and He was not alone.

Gen 1:2

2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Gen 1:26

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;
let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

So, God wasn't alone. The Holy Spirit was there since the beginning of time. Then, God created the woman. How did God come up with that? Are woman created in the image of God? Yes. Then how is it that men and women are different?- very different, in fact? And why did God say "Our" and not "My" image?

Gen 1:26-28

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness;
let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in His own image;
in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply;
fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

God created the female as a 'helper'. And the Greek word for it is Ezer, which is the same meaning as Holy Spirit.

Gen 1:18

18 And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone;
I will make him a ezer comparable to him.”

So does that answer your question? God created them in His likeness and the likeness of His Spirit. He created them male and female. God the Spirit is very much female. Now, before you start throwing stones at me, let's explore further..

Gen 2:21-24

21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept;
and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.
22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman,
and He brought her to the man.
23 And Adam said:
“This is now bone of my bones
      And flesh of my flesh;
      She shall be called Woman,
Because she was taken out of Man.”
24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,
and they shall become one flesh.

Now, where did God get that idea from? I know that most of the animals, not all, had this; but men and women were created in His image, right?

1 Cor 2:9-12
9 But as it is written:

“ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him?
Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God,
that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

Gen 2:24

24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,
and they shall become one flesh.

International Finance

David W. (show of hands)

Short game:
Everybody hold your breath - see who can hold it the longest.

Can you live without breathing? No.

Praying is like breathing. The Bible asks us to pray without ceasing. How do we pray without ceasing? Does it mean that we have to keep our mouths moving all the time? (do a funny action with your mouth) No. Praying is talking to God in your heart. How can we talk to God? Because God is everywhere. He is like the air we breathe- He is everywhere.

Interaction:
How many of you don't need to drink water at all? (just kidding)
How many of you drink only about 1 cup of water everyday? 1 medium bottle? 1 big bottle? More than 1 big bottle? (applause) Good.
Hard question - how many percent of our body is made out of water? 70%
What happens when you don't drink enough water? You get thirsty, dehydrated, go crazy and ultimately die.
So what do you do when you are thirsty? Drink water.
So how do you feel after drinking water? Refreshed, satisfied, happy.

Worship is like the water we drink. Can we live without it? No. After worship, we are supposed to feel good and happy. But that is just the effect of worship. What is the purpose of worship? Because He deserves our worship and also because we enjoy it.

Interaction:
How many of you ate your breakfast this morning? Who is hungry? (show of hands)
(if possible, give them something to munch)
What will you do if, after church, your parents told you that everyone in the family has to pray and fast for one month? (funny face of jaw dropping)
Who is the tallest person in class?
Let's interview him/her : How much do you normally eat in a meal?

Reading the Bible is just like eating. We can't live without it. The more we eat, the more we grow. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

So, prayer is like? Breathing. Worship is like? Drinking. And reading the Bible is like? Eating.

Class activity:
Play song on lap top - "Everything to me" by Avalon.

Lyrics

I grew up in Sunday School
I memorized the Golden Rule
And how Jesus came to set the sinner free
I know the story inside out, and I can tell you all about the path that led Him up to Calvary
But ask me why He loves me, and I don't know what to say
But I'll never be the same because He changed my life when He became...

(CHORUS)
Everything to me
He's more than a story
More than words on a page of history
He is the air that I breathe, the water I thirst for
And the ground beneath my feet
Oh He's everything, everything to me

We're living in uncertain times
And more and more I find that I'm aware of just how fragile life can be
I wanna tell the world I've found, a love that turned my life around
They need to know that they can taste and see
Now everyday I'm prayin' just to give my heart away
I wanna live for Jesus, so that someone else might see that He is...

(CHORUS)

And lookin' back over my life at the end, I wanna meet you, sayin you've been..

(CHORUS) 2x
Lord you're everything to me, Jesus

Sunday School Lesson 2

Trinity - God the Holy Spirit
Elementary School

Introduction :

Art and Craft : Draw a ship/boat on water.
Draw lines symbolizing the wind blowing the boat.

Question :
1. The wind
What is the wind like? Can you see it? Can you feel it? What can it do?
Answers : It is invisible, but I can feel it. It can move things from one place to another, etc.

2. The Holy Spirit
What is the Holy Spirit like? Can you see Him? Can you feel Him? What can He do?
Wrong answer : The Holy Spirit is the wind.
Correct answer:
The Holy Spirit is just like the wind in many ways. We might not be able to see Him but we can feel Him. It can guide us from one place to another, etc.

3. Give an example of the Holy Spirit working in a situation in your life.
Example : I was complaining to myself about my teacher in school when suddenly the Holy Spirit convicted me that it was wrong.

Who is the Holy Spirit?
Gen 1:2
Matt 3:16
John 4:24
Psalms 143:10
1 Cor 3:16
Eph 1:13
John 14:15-18, 25-27
John 15:26
John 16:7-15

Sunday School Lesson 1

Trinity - God the Father
Elementary School

Who loves you most in this world?
They may answer - God, my parents, my best friend, my sister/brother, etc.

Who loves you more- God or your parents?
Correct answer - God loves you more.

How do you know God loves you?
The Father sent His beloved Son to die for you on the cross. You have been with me 24-7 for goodness knows how long, and you don't have a single clue of who I am? Well, check this out- (2) if you can see me, you can see the Father! It's as simple as that, dude!"
vs 10 - Guys, look- if you don't believe that '(3) He is in me and I am in Him', then just say so.
Y' see, (4) every single thing I say to you is exactly what God wants me to say- exactly.
vs 11 - So, (5) believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me.

Who is God the Father?

A. God is in Jesus.
(1) If you know Me, you know God the Father
(2) if you can see me, you can see the Father
(3) He is in me and I am in Him
(5) believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me

(1, 2, 3, 5) - God the Father is in Jesus and Jesus is in God the Father - they are one (trinity).
**Application : The same applies to us - we are one with God the Father and Jesus. God is in us and we are in God.
(John 14:20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.)

B. God speaks through Jesus.
(4) every single thing I say to you is exactly what God wants me to say

(4) - That is why God can speak through Jesus.
**Application : Secondly, we must let God speak through us. Everything we do or say must be in God. We must be sensitive to hear what God wants to say or do. Let Him take control of our lives.

John 14:19-21, 23-24, 31 (NKJV)

Indwelling of the Father and the Son
John 14:19-21
19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.

Paraphrased :
vs 19 - Afterwards, other people cannot see Me anymore, but you still can see me. Because I am alive, you are also alive.

20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

Paraphrased :
vs 20 - That is when you will understand that I am in My Father, and you in Me and I in you.

21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.
And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father,
and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

Paraphrased :
If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
If you love me, My Father will love you.
then I will love you and show you who I am.

Theory:
If you obey God, He will show Himself to you.

John 14:23-24
23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

Paraphrase :
vs 23- If you love Me, you will keep my words, and My Father will love you. Then we will come and make our home with you.
vs 24 - If you don't love me, you will not keep my words. These words are is the Father's words, not mine.

Theory :
Keep His words and God will make His home with you.

John 14:31
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

Paraphrase :
Jesus said, "I died on the cross so that the world will know that I love the Father, and as He commanded Me, so I do."

John 8:29
29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”

Theory :
1. God is always with you.
2. You must always please God.
3. When you always please God, God will always be with you.

Characteristics of God the Father :

John 10:27-30
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
Theory : He is our Shepard.

28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
Theory : He is our source of life.

29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
Theory : He is almighty.

30 I and My Father are one.”
Theory : He is one with us.

Revelations 4:11
11 “ You are worthy, O Lord,[a]
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist[b] and were created.”

Theory : He is our creator.

Question : Why did God create us?
Wrong answers : to worship Him, serve Him, to preach the gospel, to save the world, etc.
Correct answer : He created us so that He can have a relationship with us. For example, my vision is to build a school. From there, strategies just come. I don't have to brainstorm like other people. Once I have the vision, strategy will be a piece of cake.

Secondly, vision comes from God. Well, at least mine does. The best visions come from God.

Soft data :: eg. insights from experiences
Hard data :: eg. data collected from research

Articulation :: the act of jointing
Disenchant :: undeceive
Synthesis :: combining saperate entities into a unified entity
